The Dublin Afrobeat Ensemble are an underground group of musician friends from, Sicily, Nigeria, Cameroon, Armenia, Brazil and Cuba. Their combined efforts have led to performances all over Ireland in the coolest late night venues and stage settings with the best djs and bands around.
Their material is, influenced by the legendary Fela Kuti, Antibalas, and Tony Allen. Saturated in hours of musical persistence these guys are totally up to date with long extended phrasing and heavy African ‘riddims’. There is a live hip hop, funk, jazz, soul and disco element at work here awash with brass, lead guitar and vocal harmonies. There is nothing usual about this band.
The band recorded their first EP together in 2013 and are releasing a brand new EP in the coming weeks. You may want to check their website to keep updated with their upcoming live shows and know more about them:
I have attended their live performance on Sunday 3rd August 2014 at Sugar Club, Dublin, Ireland. Check out the below diaporama of pictures and a recorded live video!
