Fundraising gigs’campaign for abortion rights (IE)

For those who do not live in Ireland, you may not know that still up to today abortion isn’t allowed under most circumstances. Women are discouraged to abort regardless of circumstances and must travel to UK or other EU countries if they want to abort.

The gigs took place last Friday 10th March 2017 at Sin é pub, Dublin 1 and were organised by Bitches Brew & F-Festival celebrating women in the arts:

http://www.ffestival.net/about-us/

The purpose of this night was to fund raise for the Repeal movement and bring awareness of the Irish law in terms of women’s abortion rights 🔥👍. To get a better understanding of what this law entails and follow the campaign on social media, check these leaflets 👇

what is the eight amendment

reasons to fight for women's abortion rights and repeal the eight amendment

If you are living in Ireland or are Irish living abroad, sign up for this petition requesting the law to be reviewed and giving women the rights to abort if they choose to 👊:

The event gathered four bands, mostly girls’ bands playing various music styles such as pop, blues, roots folk, rock, hard rock. I arrived a little late for the event and also left early, so I only recorded two bands but I will share with you some videos of the other two bands I missed. Bear in mind that the venue is very narrow in width, so I wasn’t always able to film from the best angle. Apologies for this ! For the YouTube videos I made, I have indicated underneath the respective bands’ Facebook fan pages if you’d like to follow them.

Which one you like most and why? Are you going to like any of their Facebook fan page(s)?

I will start to share with you a snippet I shared on my Instagram account:

And now full songs recorded or found on YouTube:

These are two Youtube videos I found of the other bands I have missed:

Duckstein Festival Hamburg Hafen City 2015

The summer has been filled so far with lots of open air festivals in Hamburg (Germany), even if the weather hasn’t always been perfect! I attended the duckstein festival at Madgeburg Harbour (in front of and next to the International Maritime Museum). As you may have already guessed, Duckstein, the main festival sponsor, is a brewery selling beers such as the Bavarian classic Hefeweiss, a Pilsner, Dunkel and Altbier.

The festival, due to its sponsor, was more adult-oriented (shows during the week took place only in the evenings) as you would probably be figuring out when visiting the festival website requesting if you are over 16 years of age (minimum age to drink beers in Germany) but some of the shows were also open to families, in particular the circus shows. Please find below few pictures of the festival (slideshow).

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I watched the wonderful and witty Big Daddy Wilson acoustic blues band with soul and gospel influences from Southern United States, which discovers his love for blues coming to Germany, where he has been awarded ‘Best Acoustic Artist’ in the Blues category in Germany. Later on, I had a good laugh watching the funny and interactive acrobatic Santos Circus street show coming all the way from Venezuela.

Enjoy the videos and for more information about the festival itself running in different cities of Germany this summer, check their website here: www.duckstein-festival.de

B-Xtreme break dance crew live performance at Bray Summerfest 2014

As you can see from the below picture, Bray Summer Festival lines up lots of cool acts for both adults and children. If you haven’t made it this weekend, don’t worry as it will still continue until the start of August 2014!

Bray Summerfest Programme 2014

I have had the pleasure to attend the B-Xtreme high-energy acrobatic interactive break dancing show. At the Bray Summerfest, the crew was composed of 3 dancers: Anthony Ready Rosa, Christopher Cuba Munoz and Jose Mini Collon. They come from New York City, USA.

These award winning performers have not only brought dance from the streets but have exhibited their talents to colleges, festivals, half-time, shows film and special events (they performed at the well known America’s Got Talent TV show in 2013) around the world. Their shows are packed with acrobatic stunts, hilarious antics, and the hottest dance moves, and by combining their cutting-edge dance choreography with performing talents, they deliver an unforgettable experience that leaves crowds cheering for more.

B-Xtreme breakdancing crew

I have filmed their live performance on Saturday 12th July at Bray Summerfest 2014, in which they both deliver a brilliant dance route as well as getting the audience involved. So sit tight and watch the whole video!

If you are interested in following them or booking them for an event, check their website and facebook page below:

Africa Day Festival 2014 (Dublin) & after-festival party at Voodoo Lounge

This is going to be a nice souvenir from the Africa Day event, which took place on Sunday 25th May 2014 at Farmleigh Estate, Phoenix Park, Dublin and its after-party at Voodoo Lounge, 39-40 Arran Quay, Dublin 7. If you didn’t attend, you now have the chance to catch up with them.

In fairness with you, due to the rainy weather conditions, I have filmed a lot more the after-party indoor event than the outdoor festival. Nonetheless, you can still check their website www.africaday.ie to see what kind of entertainment and exhibitions were there.

You will find below few pictures I took at the festival and a map showing you all the different activities as well as the line-up schedule.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Now, please enjoy the only video I took at the outdoor festival event from Benzor hip hop singer in collaboration with No Long Tingz Music Group, at Atilogwu stage:

As for the after-party, I filmed DJs Marv and Spaqz playing various tunes ranging from rn’b, old and new school hip hop, soca, reggae, afrobeat, etc…There are four videos that you can find on my Youtube Channel here:

https://www.youtube.com/user/emelinej1/videos

Finally, please share with us any pictures, videos, impressions of these events! Did you enjoy them? What was the best act(s) to your opinion ?
